Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The Home at a Glance
What is Valley View Villa?
Valley View Villa is our private, 5,000 square foot modern farmhouse getaway on 5+ acres in West Dover, Vermont, just a 5 – 7 minute drive to Mount Snow. It’s the kind of place where you can ski all day, soak in the hot tub under the stars at night, and still have plenty of room to spread out as a group. Between the mountain views, the private pond, the walking trail, and the big indoor hangout spaces, it’s a true “everyone’s happy” kind of home!
How many guests can the home host?
We’re set up to host up to 16 guests comfortably. The home is designed for big, memorable trips with extended family, multiple families traveling together, or groups that want a spacious, high-end home base near Mount Snow.
What makes this home especially great for multiple families?
Privacy, space, location, and amenities. Bedrooms are oversized and spread out across the home, so it doesn’t feel like everyone is stacked on top of each other, and there are multiple living spaces so different groups can do different things at the same time.
A few highlights families and groups love:
- Two separate second-floor living spaces, each accessed by its own stairwell on opposite sides of the villa
- A sound-proof privacy door that can separate several bedrooms and the dining room from the main living room and kitchen
- Plenty of space indoors and outdoors, so kids can play and adults can relax without anyone feeling cramped
Is Valley View Villa a good choice year-round?
Absolutely. Winter is all about skiing, hot tub time, and cozy evenings by the fire. Summer brings pond days, grilling, hiking the private trail, and long nights outside. Fall is famous here for foliage (more on that below), and spring is a quieter, beautiful time to explore Vermont.
Location, Getting Here, and Parking
Where are you located?
We’re in West Dover, Vermont, in the heart of the Deerfield Valley. It’s an easy base for Mount Snow or Stratton, Wilmington, and tons of classic Vermont exploring.
How close are you to Mount Snow?
We’re a 5 – 7 minute drive to Mount Snow, which makes ski weekends so much smoother. You can get first chair without stress, take quick breaks back at the house if you want, and still be back for après in no time.
Is this a good home base for skiing more than one mountain?
Yes, and that’s a huge part of why we love this area. You’re close to Mount Snow, and you can also day trip to other big Vermont resorts like Stratton and Okemo when you want variety. If your group has different skill levels or just wants to mix things up, this location makes it easy.
Is parking easy for a large group?
Yes. There’s plenty of parking in the driveway and along the side of the house, which is especially helpful when multiple families arrive in multiple cars. We can easily fit 10+ cars.
Bedrooms, Beds, Bathrooms, and Comfort
How many bedrooms and bathrooms are there?
The home has 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, which makes a big difference for group trips. Mornings are smoother, bedtime is calmer, and you’re not constantly waiting on a shower.
What’s the bed setup?
We have 7 king beds and 1 queen bed. Two of the bedrooms also include pull-out couches for extra sleeping flexibility, which is great for kids, teens, or anyone who wants a little separation without needing another full bedroom.
Are bedrooms close together or spread out?
They’re spread out, and that’s intentional. The oversized bedrooms are spaced throughout the home, and with the two separate upstairs living areas (plus that sound-proof privacy door), the layout is perfect for groups that want to be together without being on top of each other.
Do you provide linens, towels, and essentials?
Yes. Beds are made with fresh linens, bathrooms are stocked with towels, and you’ll find the everything you’d expect for a comfortable stay.
Do the bathrooms have hair dryers?
Yes, there are hair dryers in every bathroom, which is one of those little things that makes packing easier.
Check-In, Check-Out, and Arrival
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. That timing helps ensure the home is thoroughly cleaned and ready for your group. Please inquire about early check-ins or late check-outs. If we can make it work, we will.
How do we get into the house?
We’ll send you a unique door code before arrival. Self check-in is simple and flexible, which is especially nice for groups arriving at different times.
Wi-Fi, Streaming, and Staying Connected
How’s the internet and Wi-Fi coverage?
Fast and reliable – and more importantly, it’s fast everywhere. We have gigabit fiber internet plus wired Wi-Fi 7 access points throughout the house and outside, so you can stream, work, and stay connected without hunting for a signal. Yes, it even reaches down by the pond!
Do you have TVs and streaming?
Yes. Every bedroom has a Roku TV, and they’re set up with all the major streaming apps. Whether your group wants a movie night, a kids’ cartoon break, or a laid-back evening after skiing, it’s easy.
How is cell service?
Cell service can vary in Vermont depending on your carrier, but Wi-Fi calling usually works great here thanks to the strong internet setup.
Kitchen, Dining, and Cooking for a Group
Is the kitchen stocked for big group meals?
Yes – and we really mean it. We host large groups all the time, so the kitchen is stocked with the cookware, serving pieces, and everyday tools you need to cook for a crowd. Whether you’re doing pancakes for 12, chili after skiing, or a big family-style dinner, you’ll be set up for success.
Is the dining area big enough for everyone?
Yes. Shared meals are one of the best parts of a group trip, and the dining setup is built for it. It’s also nice to be able to separate spaces when needed, thanks to the layout and privacy door.
Can we drink the tap water?
Yes. The home is on a well, and we also have filtered water for easy refills.
Hot Tub, Relaxation, and Starry Nights
Do you have a hot tub?
Yes! The hot tub is a guest favorite and one of the best parts of staying here.
What’s the hot tub experience like after skiing?
It’s exactly what you hope it will be. After a day on the mountain, there’s nothing like soaking in warm water while the cold air hits your face and you unwind with your crew.
Is it good for stargazing?
Very. On clear nights, the stars here can be incredible. It’s one of those “wow, we needed this” moments. It’s how our kids learned about the night sky.
Outdoor Space, Pond Fun, and Private Trails
What is there to do outside at the house?
A lot, and that’s one reason families love staying here. You’ve got 5+ private acres to roam, a private walking trail, a pond that’s fun all day long, and plenty of outdoor spots to relax and take in the mountain views.
Tell me about the pond – is it fun for families?
It’s the centerpiece of the property. In warmer months you’ll hear frogs, see fish and wildlife, and get that peaceful “Vermont summer” vibe that’s hard to beat. It’s a great place for kids to explore (with adult supervision, of course), and it’s equally great for adults who want to relax, read, or fish.
Do you provide kayaks and paddleboards?
Yes! We have kayaks and stand-up paddle boards available for guests, which makes pond time feel like a real vacation activity rather than just a nice view.
Is there a private walking trail?
Yes. There’s a groomed private walking trail that loops around the property and ends near the pond. It’s perfect for morning coffee walks, quick post-dinner strolls, and little adventures with kids. It’s magical in both the Winter and Summer.
Relaxing Evenings, Grilling, and S’mores
What are nights like at Valley View Villa?
They’re one of the best parts of the trip. After a day out (skiing, hiking, exploring Wilmington, you name it), groups love coming back, cooking together, soaking in the hot tub, and finishing the evening around the fire with something sweet.
Do you have a fire pit and s’mores supplies?
Yes. We have a fire pit for cozy nights, and we keep marshmallow roasting sticks in the kitchen so you’re ready for s’mores without having to think twice.
Is there a good grill for big group BBQs?
Yes – we have an oversized Weber grill that’s great for cooking for a crowd. And the setting is hard to beat: grilling with mountain views is a pretty perfect Vermont experience.
Game Room and Indoor Fun for All Ages
Do you have a game room?
We do, and it’s fun. The game room is one of the reasons group trips here feel so memorable – it gives everyone a fun place to gather, laugh, and keep the energy going (especially on snowy nights or rainy afternoons). Here’s what you’ll find:
🎱 Pool table
⚽ Foosball
🍹 Wet bar setup
🎲 A great selection of board games
📺 Mounted TV
It’s the perfect “second living room” for groups – kids can play, adults can hang out, and everyone has something to do. It’s also fun to watch movies in the basement or hook a Nintendo Switch to the TV for some multiplayer action.
Game Room & Indoor Fun for All Ages
Do you have heat and air conditioning?
Yes. The home has A/C and multiple temperature zones, which helps keep everyone comfortable in every season (and keeps thermostat debates to a minimum!).
Is the home cozy in winter?
Very. Winter is one of our favorite times here because you get that classic Vermont ski-home feel: warm, spacious, and relaxing the moment you walk in the door.
Do you have EV charging?
Yes, we have level 2 EV charging on-site, which makes weekend trips and longer stays much easier for those with electric vehicles.
Is the home powered by solar?
Yes. We are thrilled to have filled the roof on both sides of the property with solar panels. On a sunny day the home is fully powered by the sun, and we a have battery backup system so that the home stays powered during temporary outages.
Washer & Dryer
Do you have a washer and dryer?
Yes, and honestly it’s one of the most underrated perks of the house – especially for active trips. After skiing, you can dry gloves and base layers overnight. After hiking or pond time, it’s easy to refresh towels and gear. For families with kids, it’s a total trip-saver.
Dogs & Pets
Are pets allowed?
Yes – we love dogs! Pets are allowed when they’re specified and approved during the booking process. If you’re hoping to bring your dog, just mention it when you book so we can confirm everything is set for a great stay.
