Summer Adventure Guide: Golfing, Biking & Outdoor Fun at Mount Snow

Summer outdoor adventures including golf and mountain biking at Mount Snow Vermont

Mount Snow gets plenty of fame in winter, but summer is when the whole area feels easy: less traffic, long evenings, and that “let’s do one more thing” energy. This post is the single-day version – one perfect summer day at Mount Snow, run from Valley View Villa, that hits golf, the chairlift or bike park, a real lunch, and ends at the pond and firepit. For the broader summer 10-item list, see our Summer Bucket List for the Deerfield Valley. For the year-round picks, see the Top 10 Things to Do hub.

Here’s the timeline we use most often when guests ask for a one-day plan, refined from years of running the property.

7am at the villa. 8am tee time at Mount Snow Golf Club. Noon for lunch back near the base. 1pm chairlift to the summit. 4pm back at Valley View Villa. 5pm in the pond. 6:30 firepit and dinner on the deck. Eight stops, no rushing. Below is the breakdown.

⛳ 7am – 8am: Coffee on the Deck, Then Drive 7 Minutes to the Tee

Slow start. Coffee and a quick breakfast on the deck while the sun comes over the ridge. The villa is 7 minutes from Mount Snow’s main entrance, and Mount Snow Golf Club is right there – book a tee time at 8am or 8:15am for the freshest greens and the lowest ranger pressure.

Tee time advice: weekends in July and August book up two weeks out. Reserve online through Mount Snow’s golf page. Check-in is inside the pro shop. The course tee sheet generally runs from early morning through late afternoon – confirm exact hours on the day you book. The driving range is open if someone in your group wants to hit balls instead of play eighteen.

⛳ 8am – 12pm: Mount Snow Golf Club

The course is a real 18-hole layout with mountain views on most holes – not a resort par-3 add-on. Carts are available; walking is fine on the front nine if you’re fit. Pace is relaxed mid-week, more crowded weekends. Most rounds run 4 to 4.5 hours with a cart.

Group tip: if you have a bigger crew, book back-to-back tee times and treat it like a rolling start. Meet up at the clubhouse for a drink after the front-nine groups finish.

🍔 12pm – 1pm: Lunch Near the Base

Three lunch picks within 5 minutes of the golf course, all family-friendly:

  • The Last Chair – casual pub, big portions, kid menu, beers on tap. Fast service.
  • Cuzzins – classic Mount Snow base-area pub, burgers and salads, generally moderate price for the area.
  • Sawmill Bar & Table – cozy sit-down with a fuller menu – better if you have time and want a real lunch.

Expect lunch entrees in the standard Vermont ski-town range – check menus before you go for current pricing. None of these need a reservation for a small group at lunch.

🚠 1pm – 3:30pm: Bluebird Express Chairlift to the Summit

Drive 5 minutes to the Mount Snow base. The Bluebird Express scenic chairlift runs Friday through Sunday in summer, daily during peak fall foliage. The ride takes about 12 minutes each way and tops out at 3,586 feet. From the summit: 360-degree views, a summit bar for a drink, and several short hiking trails (most loops are 30 to 60 minutes).

Plan to spend 90 minutes to 2 hours total – 12 minutes up, lap the summit, walk one of the short trails or just sit on the deck, 12 minutes back down. The summit can be 10-15°F cooler than the base – pack a layer even on a warm day.

🚵 Alternate 1pm – 3:30pm: Mount Snow Bike Park

If your group has riders who want lift-served downhill, swap the chairlift for the bike park. Same lift, different gear. Bike park hours are typically Friday through Sunday in summer; rentals available at Mount Snow Sports near the base. Full-suspension downhill bikes, hardtails, helmets, pads – everything you need.

Practical: start earlier in the day if you have kids or new riders – energy fades after lunch. Pack extra water and snacks. Gloves and eye protection make a real comfort difference on flow trails.

🚗 4pm: Drive 7 Minutes Back to the Villa

This is the part guests tell us they didn’t expect to love so much: coming “home” after the day and still having things to do without driving anywhere. The villa is 7 minutes door-to-door from the Mount Snow base. Swap gear, grab a snack, head outside.

🛶 5pm – 6:30pm: Pond Time

The 5-acre property has a private spring-fed pond stocked with fish, plus kayaks, paddleboards, a swim float, and a flat lawn for whatever else. Wi-Fi 7 reaches the pond if anyone needs to hop on a call (pretend they don’t). The hot tub is right off the back deck for the post-paddle soak.

Reminder for families: the trail loops the property and ends near the pond – kids should always be supervised near the water.

🔥 6:30pm onward: Firepit, Dinner on the Deck, Hot Tub

Light the firepit. Dinner from the BBQ grill or the kitchen – the kitchen is set up for groups so most guests cook in. After dinner, walk the groomed trail loop while the kids run S’mores duty.

Evening packing list we tell guests to bring or check from the closet: bug spray (mosquitoes pick up after dusk in July), a flashlight or headlamp for the trail walk, a fleece for after sunset, beach towels for the hot tub run-out, and a S’mores kit (graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate) if it’s your first night and you haven’t hit the Wilmington General Store yet. There’s a hot tub off the back deck for the wind-down. Sleep is easy after a day like this.

🌙 The Short Version

If you only remember one schedule from this post: tee time at 8am, lunch at noon, chairlift or bike park at 1, back at the villa by 4, pond by 5, firepit by 6:30. You’ll have done a full day at Mount Snow without ever feeling rushed, and you’ll still be in pajamas by 9.
