When people think “Mount Snow,” they usually picture powder days and chairlifts. But once the snow melts, one of our favorite warm-weather surprises is right down the road: Mount Snow Golf Club. It’s an easy add-on to a summer or fall getaway, and it delivers that very Vermont combination of fresh air, rolling greens, and mountain scenery.
If you’re staying at Valley View Villa, it’s the kind of outing that fits perfectly into a laid-back day: morning tee time, a late lunch in West Dover, and then back to the house for pond time, a walk on our private trail, or a soak in the hot tub.
What makes the course special
Mount Snow Golf Club is a regulation 18-hole, par-72 course with a classic mountain layout designed by Geoffrey Cornish (with Bill Robinson also credited). It’s known for wide fairways and big greens that feel forgiving, while the terrain and elevation changes keep things interesting.
A few quick facts golfers like to know when picking a course:
🏌️ 18 holes, par 72
⛰️ Mountain terrai Around 6,894 yards (from the back tees)
Tee times, check-in, and a couple of helpful “good to knows”
Tee times are typically offered from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday–Thursday and 7:30am to 5:00pm Friday–Sunday, which is great for families trying to plan around naps, dinner, or other adventures.
A few practical notes straight from their tee time/operations info:
🧾 Check-in happens inside the pro shop
💳 Credit card only (no cash) for on-site purchases
⏱️ Target pace of play is listed as 4 hours 20 minutes
👨👩👧 Groups are limited to four players
Those last two matter if you’re coordinating a big group trip. If you’ve got more than four golfers in your crew, plan on booking back-to-back tee times and treating it like a rolling start.
Driving range, rentals, and “we didn’t pack clubs” solutions
If you’re traveling light (or playing casually), Mount Snow makes it easy:
🎯 Driving range buckets are listed at $8 (purchased in the pro shop)
🏌️ Rental clubs are listed on Mount Snow’s golf page (pricing varies by set)
This is also a nice way to include non-golfers in the fun. One person plays 18, someone else hits a bucket at the range, and kids can try putting while everyone else warms up.
Bringing kids or teens? Here’s the move
One thing I love about golf in this area is that it works for mixed ages. If you’ve got a junior golfer in the family (or a teen who wants a “grown-up” activity), Mount Snow has a junior membership category listed for players 18 and under, along with member discounts on clinics and lessons.
Even if you’re not joining as a member, the takeaway is simple: this is a place that expects families, and it shows in how the golf program is structured.
Family-friendly tee time tips:
- Book early for weekend mornings, then you’ll be done before the day heats up.
- Aim for a twilight round if you have older kids who don’t mind a later dinner.
- If someone in the group is new, pick forward tees and treat it like a scenic walk with a scorecard, not a tournament.
After the round: easy food stops close by
Golf appetite is real. Luckily West Dover is packed with solid post-round options.
A few easy favorites near Route 100:
🍕 Trail 87 for pizza, cocktails, and a fun vibe
🥩 The Sawmill Bar & Table for a cozy mountain-lodge dinner
🍔 The Last Chair for casual pub food
🍺 Snow Republic Brewery for a relaxed meal and local beer
End the day back at the villa
After you’ve had your mountain views on the course, coming back to Valley View Villa is the best kind of “après golf.” Our private pond is perfect for a quick swim or a peaceful sit by the water, and the walking trail loops around the property when you want to stretch your legs without driving anywhere. Then finish strong in the hot tub under the stars.
If you’re building a summer itinerary around Mount Snow, golf is one of those activities that feels both relaxing and special. It’s scenic, it’s close, and it pairs perfectly with everything else we love about warm-weather Vermont.
